4th Round Palagruža Cannonball has started

With a slight delay the regatta started at 12.12 p.m. The start was at some point a little bit confusiing, with the participants trying to get into the best possible positions around the starting yacht with the referees on board. There were some nervous moments when some of the boats cruised towards other vehicles, only a few spare meters away. But finally all went well: One member of the race management dropped the starting flag, and off the boats went, towards the bouye, which had to be rounded. After this, most of the crews set their spinnakers – but had to take them in again quite soon, as the wind was gone. Later the breeze came back, making the first hours of the race quite a nice stretch. (mehr …)

Pantaenius crew will „play the rabbit“

After this morning’s skipper’s briefing, the team who will be the rabbit at the start of the RPC 2011 was drawn by lot. The „Pantaenius“ crew of skipper Christian M. F. Schifter will sail on their „Hobart“ (starting number 57) ahead of the participating yachts. At twelfe o’clock on the dot the race starts. It will be supervised by the Croatian Race managers Baldasar Morozin, Sime Stanic and Dragan Penjalov as well as Austrian Herbert Koblmiller, who also is the skipper of the Safety Team aboard the sailing yacht „Chairos“.The race management: Baldasar Morozin, Sime Stanic, Dragan Penjalov and Austrian Herbert Koblmiller. Last evening in the marina

After a day of rough training and final preparations for the competition the whole RPC 2011 community gathered sunday evening at the restaurant „Marina Kornati“ for a substantial meal of Austrian „Kaiserschmarr’n“.
At 7 p.m. the Round Palagruza Cannonball 2011 was heralded officially by the Organizer. Ronnie Zeiller welcomed all the approx. 200 participants, and of course he thanked all persons and sponsors, without whom the regatta wouldn’t be possible. Sunday was training day for the participating crews. The team members practiced their positions, equipment was tested and the yachts were tuned for the race, which starts tomorrow. Impressions of today’s training can be found in our online gallery

Registration finished – things are getting serious now!

All participating teams have arrived in Biograd. On saturday afternoon, the 28 skippers of the contesting sailing yachts checked in at the small office at the marina, where they were welcomed by RPC organisator (and contest participant) Ronnie Zeiller (skipper of the „Alles Yacht“ crew). Every team received RPC-shirts, and by 7 p.m. the registration was finished: All crews checked in, there are no „no-shows“! (mehr …)
